Our Story

Mocha Joe’s cafe is a downtown Brattleboro institution located in the heart of town on Main Street for more than 30 years. We pride ourselves on serving excellent specialty grade locally roasted coffee with a conscience – roasted fresh just down the street at our Roasting Shop! It doesn’t get any fresher than that!

It's hard to believe it's been 32 years since we took over the old Joe's Shoe Repair and turned it into Mocha Joe's Cafe. Thirty two years of big mugs of hot coffee, lattes and laughs with friends and family, local art on the walls, and of course Andi's spectacular scones (still a top secret recipe, don't ask!). We are beyond grateful that Mocha Joe's Cafe has become such a Brattleboro institution and we couldn't have done it without the years of loyal support from all our customers and our great staff. You all are what has made the cafe special. Thank you so much for being such a valuable part of our community at the cafe!

What started as a single cafe in downtown Brattleboro is now the biggest specialty coffee roaster in Southern Vermont, 100% Solar Powered, with cafe, restaurant and grocery partners all over Vermont and New England. Recently, we have made the hard decision to list our downtown cafe for sale, and to continue our focus on the coffee roasting side of business.

We hope to pass the torch to someone with passion for artisan coffee and community, and who will continue the Mocha Joe's tradition of great java with a big heart.
